No subspecies are listed under this species. It was earlier treated as a subspecies of Charaxes athamas – Common Nawab but recent molecular phylogenetic work (Toussaint et al. 2015) has suggested athamas to be a species complex. It is uncertain where this Andamanese taxon will fit following this study. Until its taxonomic status is clarified with molecular phylogenetic work, we will provisionally treat this as a distinct species.
