Photo Gallery and Species Biology
This species is historically known in India only from a single male specimen – the holotype of the species – from "Barak River, Western Manipur Hills", NE India (Tytler 1915). The new record (BOI-bp866 to BOI-bp868, and BOI-bp870) from Namdapha National Park, published here on 15 March 2015, is only the second record of the species from India, and the first record for Arunachal Pradesh.
It is found outside India in E. Laos and C. & S. Vietnam, but not in Thailand (Pinratana 1988; Callaghan 2009; Ek-Amnuay 2012). It must also occur in N. Myanmar.
Extremely rare in India, and known only from low-lying evergreen forests in the Patkai hills. Both the Indian records are from March, separated by 102 years: Tytler collected it at Barak River, Manipur, in March 1913, and our recent record is from March 2015 in Namdapha National Park in Arunachal Pradesh.
