This species has been recorded so far from Andaman & Nicobar Islands UT, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and West Bengal, within Indian limits.

 

This species is common.

  The subspecies coelestis is legally protected in India under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
