Natural History: Exotic Perennial Climber.
It is a perennial climber from tropical South America, often grown in gardens for its bright flowers. Its leaves are unlobed with serrated margins. Flowers are typical passionflower-like but scarlet-red in colour with large bracts. The fruits are typical passionfruit-like but turn red when ripe (Flowers of India 2024).
