Subspecies in India
Taxonomic Information
Earlier, the following taxa were treated as subspecies of Pseudocoladenia dan, which are now raised to and treated at species level:
(1) Pseudocoladenia dan fabia (Evans, 1949) – Himalayan Fulvous Pied Flat, now raised to a species level, as Pseudocoladenia fabia (Evans, 1949) – Dented Pied Flat. Many images of P. fabia are still under the species page of P. dan on this website, but they will eventually be moved to the P. fabia species page.
(2) Pseudocoladenia dan fatih (Kollar, [1844]), now confirmed as a distinct species as, Pseudocoladenia fatih (Kollar, [1844]) - West Himalayan Pied Flat.
(3) Pseudocoladenia dan fatua (Evans, 1949), now confirmed as a distinct species as, Pseudocoladenia dan fatua (Evans, 1949) - Ruddy Pied Flat.
(4) Pseudocoladenia festa (Evans, 1949), now confirmed as a distinct species as, Pseudocoladenia festa (Evans, 1949) - Dull Pied Flat.
Finally, Pseudocoladenia dan dan (Fabricius, 1787) – Sahyadri Fulvous Pied Flat, is meaningless as a nominate subspecies since no other valid subspecies exist under this species any more.
