Notes: This plant has been recorded as a new larval host for Leptotes plinius – Zebra Blue by Paresh Churi from Bengaluru, Karnataka in 2016.

 

Identification Keys: As per Flora of Peninsular India (2023),

  1. M. atropurpureum: creeping herb, leaves lobed, flower purple-brown.
  2. M. lathyroides: erect herb, leaves unlobed, flower purple-red.
