Subspecies in India
(1) Graphium sarpedon sarpedon (Linnaeus, 1758) – Oriental Common Bluebottle. Another subspecies, Graphium sarpedon sirkari Page & Treadaway, 2013, was described recently. Until recently, Graphium teredon Felder & Felder, 1864 – Narrow-banded Bluebottle, was treated as a subspecies under this species. Further notes on this taxonomic change will be added here later.
Conservation and Special status
This species is legally protected in India under Schedule II of the WildLife (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022 ('WPAA').

This species has been recorded so far from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir UT, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal, within the Indian limits.
This species is common.
