This is also known as the Malayan Nawab.

Conservation and Special status

  The subspecies sandakanus is legally protected in India under Schedule I of the WildLife (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022.

This species has so far been recorded from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and West Bengal, within Indian limits.

 

This is a rare species that occurs in low-elevation evergreen forests in the Eastern Himalaya and NE India, to Indo-China and SE Asia.

  The subspecies sandakanus is legally protected in India under Schedule I of the WildLife (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022.
