No subspecies are listed under this species. This is often treated as a subspecies of Hyarotis microstictum (Wood-Mason & de Nicéville, [1887]).

Not yet known.

This species is endemic to the Western Ghats. It is so far known only from the Kodagu District.

Very rare. This species was known only from two males and two females (Evans 1949). The sighting reported here (BOI Media code as938) is the only recent record and only the fifth known specimen of the species. Nothing is known about its habits.
