Subspecies in India
(1) Cyllogenes janetae janetae de Nicéville, 1887 – Himalayan Scarce Evening Brown
(2) Cyllogenes janetae fascialata Smiles, 1973 – Naga Scarce Evening Brown
Recently, Cyllogenes janetae loba Lang & Huang, 2012 – Tibetan Scarce Evening Brown has been reported from Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, presumably co-occurring with the nominotypical subspecies (Singh and Das 2016). This needs to be verified (Das, Singh and Chandra 2020).
This species is legally protected in India under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
