Photo Gallery and Species Biology

This species was for some time reported as a subspecies of Dodona henrichi – White Punch and then as Dodona deodata deodata from "Assam". Subsequently, Callaghan (2009) showed deodata and longicaudata to be specifically distinct, restricting the distribution of deodata in Myanmar and other areas outside the modern limits of India. The two records reported here (BOI-bq726, and BOI-bx733 and BOI-bx734) represent the first recent, confirmed sightings of the species from India. The species is now known in India from the Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, and the Namdapha NP, eastern Arunchal Pradesh.
