Argynnis westphali - Emerald-and-Silver Fritillary

Not yet known.

This species is known only from two areas: the type locality (Tongmai, Nyingtri Prov., E. Tibet), and the Kameng District of western Arunachal Pradesh. It is likely to occur in other parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Sightings reported here (BOI-cy680 to cy682, and cy684-cy690) are the first records of this species from India.

Not uncommon, but very local, and known only from the Kameng District in the western Arunachal Pradesh, India, and the type locality in SE Tibet. It inhabits mid-elevation mixed evergreen forests, frequenting open streamsides, where males mud-puddle.

Apparently single-brooded in India, flying in June.
