Notes (optional)
Water Ejection: To get rid of the excess, unnecessary water quickly and efficiently, the butterfly's digestive system, particularly the posterior part of the gut, acts as a filtration system. The water is passed rapidly through the gut and is then regularly ejected from the abdomen. This process is necessary to concentrate the desired salts and minerals in their body while expelling the bulk fluid. In some species, this can be observed as powerful, regular jets or squirts of fluid.
