Evans 1932 listed as Halpe separata separata (Kumaon) and Halpe separata magna (Sikkim).
Evans 1949 listed as Sovia lucasi separata (Sikkim, Bhutan) and Sovia separata magna (Naga Hills, Manipur) and Sovia separata lucasi (Mupin).
Huang 2003 separated Sovia lucasi and Sovia separata based on genitalia. For Sovia separata there are three sub-species: separata (Sikkim; Bhutan), magna (Naga Hills, Manipur), metokana (SE Tibet). This individual is Sovia separata but as i don't have a pic of the underside, cannot be sure of subspecies. From a poor image that I have, the underside was ocherous brown. However, magna has white and black chequering of UPF cilia, while separata has obscure chequering above (Evans 1949). Also this individual has extreme apex of UPF white tiptoed, hence I have gone with magna.
