Bhanusri S.P and I left Kaiga at 06:30am and reached one of the river Kali’s tributaries which is about 13 km. We noticed quite a lot of butterfly activity on the stream bank especially on the pebbles and on the sand bank of the stream. We silently settled down on the sandy bed in crawling position. To our surprise the frog came out of the sand and preyed on Moduza procris, Cirrochroa thais, Hasora taminatus, Anthene Lycaenina, Prosotas dubiosa. The most astonishing fact was when a small fish jumped from water to prey on this butterfly. More than thirty years of my stay in Western Ghats, it was the first time I witnessed a frog and fish preying on butterflies.
