Dodona longicaudata de Nicéville, 1881 – Long-tailed Punch

Subspecies in India:

No subspecies are listed under this species. This is sometimes treated as a subspecies of Dodona henrichi – White Punch, a Chinese species, or of Dodona deodata – Broad-banded Punch. However, Callaghan (2009) showed deodata and longicaudata to be specifically distinct.

Larval Host Plants:
Since the recent report of Dodona deodata – Broad-banded Punch from India (Bora et al. 2016), the observations reported on this species page of Dodona longicaudata – Long-tailed Punch are suspect. They may turn out to be males of deodata that were earlier reported on this website as that of longicaudata following Callaghan (2009). The two related Dodona need to be collected and dissected to confirm their identity and occurence in India. Until this confirmation is possible, we will continue to display these images under the species page under which they were originally included on this website. These reference images should therefore be used with caution.
