Graphium mandarinus (Oberthür, 1879) – Spectacle Swordtail

Subspecies in India:

(1) Graphium mandarinus garhwalica (Katayama, 1986) – Garhwal Spectacle Swordtail
(2) Graphium mandarinus paphus (de Nicéville, 1886) – Himalayan Spectacle Swordtail

This species is sometimes given as Graphium glycerion Gray, 1831 (=Pazala glycerion Gray, 1831). However, Papilio glycerion Gray, 1831 is a junior primary homonym of Papilio glycerion Borkhausen, 1788. paphus de Nicéville, 1886 is the valid and available subjective replacement name for the central and eastern Himalayan, Patkai and N. Myanmarese populations that were previously listed as Graphium glycerion Gray, 1831, and paphus is to be treated as a subspecies of Graphium mandarinus (Hemming 1934; Racheli and Cotton 2009).
