    Lepidoptera Hesperioidea Hesperiidae Psolos fuligo

Psolos fuligo Mabille, 1876Dusky Partwing

Subspecies in India:

(1) Psolos fuligo subfasciatus Moore, 1878 – Indian Dusky Partwing.
Indian butterfly books mention this species with its old English name, the Coon, which should be changed. We propose an alternative English name for this species – Dusky Partwing – based on its dark coloration and the fact that the forewing tips in this species are curved outward, and therefore the forewings remain parted at the tips when the butterfly is at rest (see image ai539).
